Unit 1: Introduction to Bookkeeping

In this foundational unit, we provide a comprehensive introduction to bookkeeping principles. You will dive deep into manual and digital systems, gaining essential knowledge and core bookkeeping skills.

This unit accounts for 50% of the overall grade for the qualification.

Unit 2: Principles of Bookkeeping Controls

Building upon the foundational knowledge gained in Unit 1, this module explores control accounts, journals and reconciliations.

This unit accounts for 50% of the overall grade for the qualification.

Learning Outcomes:

• Use control accounts.

• Reconcile a bank statement with the cash book.

• Use the journal.

• Produce trial balances.

Format

AAT Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping has two objective-type tests that are computer-based and assess all component learning outcomes you have covered in the unit.

What is AAT Level 2 in Bookkeeping?

AAT Level 2 in Bookkeeping is a qualification offered by the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT). It is designed to empower individuals with fundamental skills and knowledge in bookkeeping.

This entry-level course provides a comprehensive understanding of essential principles and is a starting point for those with little or no experience in accounting.

Can I be a bookkeeper at AAT Level 2?

AAT Level 2 Bookkeeping is a great way to begin your bookkeeping journey and a step towards becoming a fully qualified bookkeeper (AATQB). While you may be able to get a bookkeeping role, such as an assistant, you won't be a qualified bookkeeper until you have passed an AAT Level 3 course and can apply for professional membership.

After that, you can get better bookkeeping, accountancy, and finance roles.

How long does it take to complete AAT Level 2 Bookkeeping?

Our students typically take 3 to 4 months to finish the course, but you can access the AAT Level 2 Bookkeeping course for 12 months. Within the eLearning platform, we have also provided a study plan to help you stay on track with your learning for your bookkeeping career.

What qualifications do you need to be a bookkeeper?

You can begin your bookkeeping journey from AAT Level 2 Bookkeeping. However, to be an AAT Qualified Bookkeeper bookkeeper, you must hold a Level 3 AAT qualification in bookkeeping, apply for professional membership, and use the designatory letters AATQB.
