The NEBOSH Environmental Certificate covers two units: EMC1 Environmental Management and EMC2 Assessing Environmental Aspects and Associated Impacts.

NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate Syllabus

Module 1: Foundations in Environmental Management.

Module 4: Planning for and dealing with environmental emergencies.

Module 5: Control of emissions to the air.

Module 6: Control of environmental noise.

Module 7: Control of contamination of water sources.

Module 8: Control of waste and land use.

Module 9: Sources and use of energy and energy efficiency.

The NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate is assessed in two parts: 

Unit EMC1: Environmental management

• Exam format: open book examination (to be downloaded, completed, and submitted in 24 hours).

• Duration: 5 hours

• Pass mark: 45-64 (credit = 65-74, distinction = 75+).

Unit EMC2: Assessing environmental aspects and associated impacts

• Exam format: Practical assessment (carried out at your workplace and to be submitted within 14 days after the booked exam date).

• Duration: 3 hours.

• Pass mark—pass standard contained in the guidance.

A unit certificate denoting the achievement of each unit is issued. Upon completion of both units, a certificate award parchment is issued.

This is an entry-level environment management course, which means you are not required to have any prior knowledge or experience in environment management or health and safety knowledge is required. However, you must be fluent in English to understand your lessons. Since this is an online training, you must also have a laptop or computer.
